Epidemiology of musculoskeletal injuries in combat sports practitioners

Abstract Study aim : The purpose of this study was to determine the impact type combat sport and degree athletic proficiency on specificity musculoskeletal injuries suffered by Muay Thai Mixed Martial Arts practitioners. Material methods involved 64 practitioners two sports, MT (age 26.9 ± 8.1, experience 7.4 5.8 years) or MMA 26.2 6.4 years, 6.6 4.1 years). research conducted using a Google Forms survey. Results groups did not differ significantly (p < 0.05) in terms risk injury (average 3.1 MT, 2.6 MMA). Injuries (mainly fractures 21% 7% practitioners) affected lower limb (44% 33% were higher p 0.05. There significant correlations between training number hours per week compared frequency severity both groups. Conclusion athletes who mainly use striking techniques are more common limbs they likely be fractures. Longer experience, level increase their among people practicing types sports.
